Just had to look closer at the old sump pan after removal. What the hell!!!!!!!!! has Triumph done to the life of my engine:mad:. I removed two screens from the sump pan and found what you see in the pictures on the link. The scree on the front side is covered with what looks to be melted teflon tape- sealant - I don't know but it sure cut down on flow to some point. No wonder it took forever to drain the oil from the front and rear plugs (05 model). There were also some small bits of metal but not too excited about this. Some of the shots are me holding it to a flash light. No more ranting, I'll put it back together, some new oil again- and ride till she pukes:D

Why did you remove the oil pan in the first place? was it because of the slow draining?

Scot- Somewhere I posted a leak through the casting near the drain plug. Dealer had to see for himself even with all the pictures etc. Triumph came forward and supplied a new pan with gasket-- no labor. I like doing this stuff for fun, not a living. A dealer would never look at the old pan and screens.

In the realm of junk-in-screens, that's not too bad. You'd think Kawasaki would be pretty good. Wrong. Every KLR we've pulled the right side cover on, the screen was full of crap, bits of sealant, metal, paper, I think the assembly line grunts at Kawasaki blow their noses and put the kleenex in the sump.

"Hey Fox.. how many miles did you have on it when you pulled the pan?"

Just under 25K for this repair- Like Flip's example probably been there from Day 1- maybe some banging on the assembly line and a misplaced condom who knows.
