still in need of butt help

I'm really surprised by this thread, my 2010 Touring has the dual long haul seat, it's the most comfortable seat on a bike I've ever sat on. When I stop for gas I usually pay and pump from the seat, I don't even get off. When riding with friends, when we break, I often stay on the bike and have a smoke, never even get off. I've been tempted to do the Russell Day Long upgrade, as I've heard so much about it, and we all love upgrades, LOL, but it's tough to justify it, for me.

I think seats are a lot like helmets, what works for one guy doesn't necessarily work for the next. I tried both Triumph seats and found them to be too soft. They felt fine initially but after a couple of hundred miles, not so much.

I've always liked Corbin seats and that's what I ended up with. Corbin is a hard seat and some folks hate them. They work for me.

I agree with the reputation of the Russell. It must work great, cause its butt ugly.

As matter of interest what is the difference between the two seats in construction.
they have a totally different shape. the longhaul cradles you more. ait also moves you forward so that with the rivco risers the bars are almost in your lap. I actually like the new forward position.

The trick is to do more big trips and just ride more often ... after the second day on the road you get into 'the zone' and the sore arse .. neck .. whatevers just goes away...true ;)
not for me. the more days I rode the shorter distance I could ride without a stop. It kept compounding. I must be a wimp.

Absolutely true. Also try to avoid flat boring motorways; twisty and winding roads force you to shift your weight around constantly so you can go all day if need be. Plus I have to say, riding with a bunch of Rockets is such a fantastic experience that it takes your mind off all else, so if you can hook up with a few others, do it. The more the merrier. :D
like I said 2400 miles and only 310 were on any kind of super slab. I road almost all back roads. Even in tight twisties like the dragon I stay planted in the middle of the seat. Maybe I need to ride this thing like a snowmobile. I never get a sore but riding my sled

Not sure where you are nor which model you ride so a recommendation comes with some caveats.

I go 325 lbs on a '06 Standard.

Stock seat too soft. Sitting on the snorkel.

Dual Tour seat too soft. Sitting on the snorkel.

Send Dual Tour off to Russ Meyer for custom foam. Too soft. Sitting on the battery as snorkel has been removed by now. Did 2 Iron Butt runs on it but about killed me.

This year finally gave in and bought a Corbin Dual Tour. Hard as hell but supports me well. Can ride all day with no numb butt issues.

I am so very tempted. some love some hate. no one complains about the Russle. I agrre its ugly but my butt has to find relief.
