I've had an ongoing annoyance with the sissy bar that was fitted to my R from new. I prefer it set on the lowest setting but every time I went out the sissy bar was sitting at the top setting.
Boredom got the better of me today so I had a look inside.
The tab you press to move the pad was fitted backwards. This meant the teeth were not engaged properly. Ripped it apart turned around and perfect.
I assume this was assembled by the dealer but just in case anyone else has the issue I have a video showing what's happening if you want it sent ( file is too big to upload)
