My dealer told me to use the fuel cut off switch whenever i shut the bike off but then i was reading that it wasnt a good idea. Any thoughts?

Please get your Dealer to show you exactly where the ' fuel cut-off switch' is .... then you can tell all of us.
 
I only ever use the key I think your dealer is a jackass

I usually kill it with the red switch and then turn the key off. Does it really matter which one?
 
Anyway you do it, it's simply interrupting the circuit to the ecu and the engine shuts off.

Some may say that one switch or another will cause an electrical spike and fry the ecu but I don't put too much faith in that.

I use the side stand switch. It guarantees that I won't forget to put the side stand down (again).
