might sound like a strange question but was your head slammed back and did you feel it in your neck?
I ask because I've had two vertabre fused in my neck and don't need whiplash.

Not really as I saw it coming and was ducking so it hit me a glancing blow as opposed to head on. Heck of a sound and lots of fluid on the face shield. I am quite sure without headgear story would have been much different!

I took a bird hit, coincidentally wearing a brand new Shoei XS-11 a number of years ago. Saw the thing take off from the side of the road and watched him start to cross my path as he climbed. Thinking the whole time he'd make it. He didn't. I too ducked at the last minute and it wasn't nearly the strike you took, but it sure got my attention. And judging from the gouge he took out of the nice blue paint job on the new helmet, I probably wouldn't have fared as well wearing one of those caps.

Seriously ... just imagine a bird strike at speed without protection.

Thanks mate .. but I've got a few good helmets ;) appreciate your concern.

Guess, perhaps I have gotten a bit more cautious as I have aged. Could be that just maybe respect for the machines and a great deal of luck has allowed me to make it this far. I for one try and do everything possible to improve my odds, but again to each his own.
