has anyone come up with a shift lite for r3?? the first 3 gears go awful fast and I thought a shift lite would help getting thru 1st 3 gears..dont want to replace tach..is there a light that i could install to work with my tach...how do I do it..Thanks

Adding a shift light is not that hard.

Since most ready made units do not support 3-cylinder engines. You need a unit that works on a 6-cylinder and in two-stroke mode up to the required rpm (double what the engine turns).

I use the units by Harlan engineering fairly regularly, but have not installed one on the R3 yet. I do not see why it would not work.

Shiftlight

They are relatively inexpensive, solidly built, and easy to program for various configurations.

You can tap into the rpm signal to the ECU or directly to the ground on one of the coils on cylinder #1.

Harlan also makes a very nice window switch that allws turning on the shift light at another rpm (such as for launching at a lower rpm when drag racing). And since the unit outputs a grounded signal, you will need to add a relay and connect to the ground side to activate it.

[FWIW, I am working to get TuneEdit to operate shift lights, quick shifters, multiple maps, and turn nitrous on/off. But it will be a while before this is offered for general use.]
