I was readjusting the clutch again just in case I did something wrong. When I went to test the adjustment I noticed a chattering sound which goes away when I pull in the clutch. Instead of a test drive I pulled it up on the lift. I spent the rest of the day carving the stock seat pad. New clutch and springs will be ordered tomorrow.

Norm is it more of a rattle then a chatter and disappears as soon as you apply a little clutch lever (not even enough to pull the on the clutch?

Oh and what brand and weight of oil do you use?

Yes to the first question and no idea to the second. I think they put new oil in it when I bought it. My guess would be HD 20/50 blend since I bought it from the Indian store in Boise which is owned by the same people as the HD dealer. I haven't had it long enough to change the oil. I planned on using Rotella full synthetic 15/40 when it came time to change it.

My 2014 R3T's clutch has made the same sound since first oil change. The dealer mechanic took the slack out of the clutch cable to make it go away; but I read, here, that not having the manufacturer recommended play in the clutch can make clutch parts wear out prematurely. I readjusted the clutch cable slack.

Yep my money is your hearing the lifter piece rattle. This is good as it means you have some free play now whether it is to much or not enough is what needs to be set. This is where the free play is set for it takes the load off all pieces and clutch components. Its amounts to slack in the system before engagement.
Not knowing what oil she has in her is not what I like in mine but then if I had Rotella oil and some rusty bolts I would put them in a coffee can add the Rotella and throw it is the trash can.

With the problems your having I would stick with what is in the manual first before mucking it up more.
