Hi folk. I've got a standard seat that has 2 latches, one under the pillion and the other forward of that. The back one clicks in, but is not lockable. The forward one is the one that I should need the key to unlock. For the life of me, it won't click in. I've tried all sorts. Pushing down and forward. Just pushing forward, and so on. My worry is if I do manage it, it won't unlock. Has anyone had this issue? It's the 2066 iii, btw.

mine seems to be just the opposite
when mine is hard at the front i put pressure on the key and hit the seat with my fist and then the key will turn more.
keep well oiled so you don't break the key
i would (with seat off) work the seat lock to make sure the latch opens and closes.

Yeah, I've done all the basic checks. It does not push down enough from what I can see. All the rubbers are correctly in place.

Did it just start doing this? Theres a thread about batteries with top terminals breaking front mounting " tounges". Did you change the battery or go from side to top terminals? Edit, I see it's a first gen bike i probably can't help much with that

it is hard to see what is the pin in the seat does not go into the rear latch doesn't i no longer has a passenger so i don't worry about it.
if there is anything i can do just yell.

I just got the bike and know nothing about the top or side battery terminals. I know the toolkit fits on top of the battery, right? So, how does the seat break the terminals? I've taken the toolkit out, anyway. Perhaps it is the battery sticking too far up; that's a thought. I'm over at my lockup tomorrow. I'll remove the battery and try that.

I didn't notice you had a 2006. On the 2020+ there have been problems when they installed batteries with top terminals instead of sides. The seat hits. So yeah, might be worth having a look that nothing is under the seat that is keeping it from going down all the way
