Running lights

When I got my new Haugan shocks I gusee I had them too soft and went over a few bumps to notice my wire harness was all wrecked under the fender.
So they fixed it and I was out at night and friends says I have no running lights not sure if they ever worked. Don't ride at night that often.
So I brought it back in they looked at it and now they say they need at least two hours because they said wire under the tank are Burnt they said the Rocket is known to burn wire harness because it gets so hot?
I never herd of this for as long as I've been on the foarm I don't recal any one having problen with engine melting wire harness ?
They said they would never let a bike out with out checking the running lights and brake light and singnals.
I said is it possible that you just checked the brake lights and singnals and for got about the running lights?
They said no , so now there saying the melted wires there seeing and they need to trace it.
But if the wires are melted could it only be for the running lights?
Brake light works single lights work , wires where burnt what's the odds it would be just the running lights?
The bulb was good fruse was good.

BS, never heard that before, has anyone else??

Thats got to be the dumbest shiyte i've ever heard (not counting government)

NO M/C manufacturer is just going to design a bike & know that it gets soooooo hot that it burns up the wiring & then say "Oh well, that's as good as it gets - let's put it out there anyway"

Are all you guys too young to remember Lucas Electrics? Its British, wouldn't surprise me in the least.

I think there just covering up there mistake so there not doing it for free.
Well I said I'll pay for the two hours, see what they say was the cause of no running lights and might never go back. We all make mistakes or over look thing but nothing bugs me more when people don't admit it just so they can charge you.
Oh well they said it would be finished on Friday will let you guys know what they say.
So just to be clear if a wire is burnt so that the running lights don't work could that be the only thing effected?
I thought if it's not the bulb and the wire is Burnt so that the running lights don't work wouldn't the Brake light and the signals not work as well?

Yea, Lucas sux but they are telling him the heat from the engine is sooooo hot that it melted the wires instead of what prolly happened (shorted)

Yeah, it was a joke. Although Triumph electrics can leave a bit to be desired at times, like faulty ground cables and faulty ignition switches, they've come a long way since the Lucas days.

Amen Harry, Triumph lacks in that area I don't claim to know much about the electrical end of things, but for a shop to tell someone "the Rocket is known to burn wire harness because it gets so hot" just blows me away - Yea, wires can be out of place & get hot enough to melt if they are dangling on the exhaust, but that's not a Rocket thing - That's just an individual incident at best!
I guess I just miss the days when people actually told the truth..................... THOSE DAYS R GONE

I would go get my bike out of that shop quicker than a "minnow could swim a dipper"
Even if they had it disassembled, I go up there with a trailer, pay em a teardown fee, & get the hell out

This is exactly why I have blown off dealerships completely.
