I went straight to pod filters and Hombres tune after installing teh Jardines, I merely rode it sparngly a few times cause I just had too.
I do not reccomend riding without a retune, I even asked my local Triumph dealer and he had not seen Jaridines so he said he could load the off road tune, but no gurantee, I thought I'll just ride the sprint until Tune boy arrives.
I highly reccommed this setup... with the warnngn that there has been one(1) bike that burst into flames.
that being said, I ride mine with pod filters, secondaries removed, Hombres tune, and Jardines almost daily...no fires, although I do think my tire milage has decreased.
and I'm surely going to get a ticket eventually ( although the bike cop I spoke to today said they are not allowed to chase speeders and his HD road king police bike was barley good for 90mph) he seemed envious of the Rocket
gldean........................these guys know WAY more than I ever will.................i had Jars put on..........stock filter............and it popped like crazy on decel................i am not known for being conservative.........my dealer loaded the 20149 tune in..................said it was for aftermarket pipes...........i commenced to riding the piss out of her for around 200 miles....................ran fine.............same mileage........popped like hell.................just loaded a new tune.................runs fine......................did i do any damage? beats me..............if i had known or thought............it would..........i would maybe have waited............oh who am i kidding............i might of ran it until it started glowing, then pulled over for a minute.
but if you have TB ordered anyway...............i really don't think a few miles is going to burn it up.............i mean like 5 or so...................just to get the curiosity squelched.
Yeah . . . there's not a lot of tools needed, but T-Handle allen wrenchs do make a huge difference as well as having good quality hand tools.
A nice lift would have helped, but that's later.
If I had to do another one, and it fit together as well as mine did, and I had another two sets of header gaskets (I bought all they had at the dealer, ha), as well as more 5/16'' washers/lock washers . . .one hour or less. Takes about 15-20 to get all that factory garb off and another 30-40 to put the Jars on . .. if'n you don't have any factory bolts that don't want to give up easily.
But have a air tools, cut off wheels, cutting torch and if that don't get it . . . ESAB 875 Plasma Cutter will take any thing apart.
