Just got bike and gathering info so please could anyone advise on best tyres for this model ie grip, mileage and wet weather performance thanking you all in advance.

Here we go  little hint look at the "darkside" forum section... Boils down to if you want a LOT of mileage from a rear, go car tyre.....,not my personal choice, but there's people here who will kill you to prove car is best!:eek3:  Toyo 225/55 or 235/55 seem very popular. If you want to stay bike, The bridgestone 240/55 is a big tyre with lots of rubber & will go a good distance. Frount end? i'd stay with the Metz.

If your a steady rider & not the type who wears pegs down to the soles of your feet every few months, then car tyre isn't a bad option, as high mileage & improved rear breaking are obtained. Surprisingly, if underinflated ( 28-30psi), wall flexure allows cornering performance..as to what degree?..... hehehe this is where the posts will start!!:soapbox::deadhorse::catfight::stirthepot::stirthepot::stirthepot:

stick with the Metz's I say, I have Avons but will be going back when theyre done. Avons last longer but I'd rather the handling of the Metz...my 2c

Assuming the tire compounds are the same, maybe the difference is in the roads traveled. I have had exactly the opposite experience. I got about 9000 miles out of my rear Avon. My rear Metz is at 10,000 with lots of miles left. I felt the Avons handled much better and will probably be going back to the Cobra and suffer the reduced wear.

Funny how the exact same tires can perform so differently under obviously different conditions.

I prefer the handling of the metz over the bridgestone on the front... haven't tried the avon. I have a Goodyear Tripple tread assurance on the rear 205/60/16. Handles great in my opinion. I did not like the recalled bridgestone. I'm not sure how any other tire's handle on it.

I don't F%&king get it! I ride this thing like a puss because I'm worried about breaking it. I have 4500 miles on a brand new R3T since
March. My tires (Metzlers) are done! The back has about 4-500 miles tops, left until bald. The dealer took out the air and put in nitrogen
which is supposed to extend tire life. Both front and rear are toast. How in the hell can anybody be getting 9K from a Metzler? These tires
are made from German cheese (cheap cheese at that). Has anybody tried Dunlops? D251's. Radials wear fast, how about bias ply? My R3T
is bone stock down to the air filter and not hot-rodded. Air pressure is correct, do Metzlers usually wear this fast? I already know I don't care
for the way they feel in corners. Will a 190 or 200 fit on the rear?

Ride it like it is meant to be road :soapbox: If I am lucky I got 4000 on my rear Metzler . The first rear tire only made it to 2200. I have put four rear to 2 front Metzler's . I run Avon Cobras now and have had better luck with the milage wet performance is less though.
