Roadster Fuel Gauge System

Late post.....The fuel gauge on my 2014 R3R is good. When I fill up the tank it takes a few blocks to show the additional fuel. Normally it reads 308 KM til empty but I find that I can ride about 50 KM before it starts to drop. If I track the range to empty once it starts to drop with the odo I find it very accurate. I have ridden the bike down to an indicated range of 45 KM. I always try to reset by "b" ODO for gas and use the "a" ODO for my trip length. No complaints about the system.

hi, I have found the distance to empty and the light to be highly inaccurate. The distance to empty says 0 but when it is filled with gas there is still 4 or 5 litres in the tank.....So it isn't in fact even close to empty, which is very misleading. Some say it is a handy backstop but I would rather it was accurate and 0 was in fact 0.If you ran out of gas there is a lot of learning to be taken from that little experience. Just my two cents worth

The same things happens in a car, or at least it does in mine. The difference is that there is about 2 gallons left in a 19 gallon tank in the car, and in a 6 gallon tank on the bike. When the float hits the bottom of the tank there is no way that it can drop any lower. Therefore it can't measure the last bit accurately. The last bit is the same in both vehicles, but it is a larger percentage of the smaller bike tank and a smaller number of miles in the car which does not quite get the economy of the bike.

Time for a secondary tank! - Maybe the same again. Would give me a 450km range. 3.5-4 hours running. That'd do me.

Or halve the consumption - Diesel!

When I am eating Interstate slab I usually fill up at around 180 miles, sometimes a bit more. I find that after 2.5 hours I need a break for a couple of minutes anyway.

Bean 'mongst thum **** yankees hus softened youse up buoy! - Ptttt- tang. I'd love to be able to do the run from home to the ferry port in Santander non-stop - 430kms.

Hey Jeff,
I get pretty well the same results with my 12 Roadster as you. Very accurate tracking. If I'm riding in town, my kms to empty is less than 300. On the road, I've had as much as 350 kms to empty show up, so it averages your riding style and adapts. I've ridden mine down to 40 kms to empty but have never put more than 20 liters in the tank (24 liter capacity).
