Interesting. So what exactly where they trying to accomplish by asking people to remove the clutch cable? Does it rub against the screen in some way that will cause damage? Can you not just maybe put some tape around the area that will be in contact with any part and prevent wear down? I also like the fact they ask you to disconnect the battery to install the screen.

Mine is a Classic and I found the cale did rub the sport screen so I just used a wire zip tie on the hanger to make sure it did not move any.

I've had no luck locating a sissy bar used, checked the .com site, this site, ebay, craigslist all over the world.. nothing. keep in mind there are not too many RIII out there so you need to be patient . I am currently bidding on a 2008 salvage RIII and I have not seen too many either hence my desire to get a bunch of spares( at a reasonnable cost) if I get it I will have a jardine exhaust for sale

Not to be Mr Obvious here....lol

The wire loop is split... I just opened the split and put it around the cable just like a keyring. Problem solved, no rub, and I didn't have to uninstall anything...

Now, having installed the risers and new grips - I'm a pro at removing the clutch cable.

Sorry for not replying to this thread sooner, I kept seeing it and never got around to opening it up.

I have the fly screen and the cable does have the ability to rub on the roadster. If it's not fed through the clips on the upper triple tree, it could rub on the chrome key ignition cover. I had mine installed by the dealer for free when I convinced them to give me the flyscreen for free in my original purchase (I never buy a vehicle for MSRP and without other free stuff. I even had them give me a t-shirt off the shelf as well). They did not route the cable correctly and I didn't notice for thousands of miles. When I finally noticed, it was too late. The crome cover wore a hole in the cover down to the wire. I didn't take it to the dealer to blame them since I should have caught it long ago.

Just make sure to look at every inch of the cable while someone else moves the bars from left to right over and over until you're satisfied nothing is rubbing.

I did not remove the clutch cable and bent the wire guide open to place it around the clutch cable.
Not really bent but separated as Kevin said.. like a key ring....easy!
