risers for the roadster

well, i got my roadster this weekend, and looked into the possibillity of putting the m109r risers and handlebar onto the roadster.

it looked very promising in the beginning, the risers are just high and backwards enough to still get the tank up, BUT...

the bolts which fastenes the risers of the m109r (bolt goes upwards trough the triple tree into the threading on the riser)

are as wide as the original nut of the roadster which is used to bolt the original riser onto the triple tree.

SO it would have been very nice and cheap (for me cause of the free set from the m109r), but unfortiunatly the bolts won't go through the original triple tree.

and no answer from steve the T-bar guy on my e-mail so i'll have to order a handlebar from thunderbike, oh well...

on the other hand driving the rocket makes me feel like:

Rivco riser which look to be the same thread as the standard and classic mount are 10 mm 1.25 pitch.

the m109r bolt is 12mm. i didn't pull the original risers out to see if there is a bushing inside the triple tree which can be removed??

maybe you or anybody who put on the rivco risers can answer that?

Sorry to hijack but do the T-bird risers and bolts fit the R3T without any other mods? do the bolts go through the damping rubbers in the top yoke ok? been looking at this mod but didn't think it would work

Fill the riser threads with HEAVY grade epoxy. Let harden. Drill and insert helicoils.

filling and drilling would be an option, but i've got the chrome triple tree on my bike and i'm worried the chrome will get severely damaged if i do that. maybe not at first moment, but later on??

When I ordered the parts from the "local" stealership, the bolt diameters were the same - only the length was different (T-Bird is longer with the taller risers). I haven't gotten around to actually putting them on, but they look the same on the exploded diagrams and the accompanying description. The T-bird risers have the same raised portion on the bottom (next to the triple tree yoke/rubber mounting) as the stock R3T risers. The only thing that would make them not fit is if the thickness of the triple tree yoke is different than the R3T. I hope this helps.

Thanks for that, would you let me know if they fit when you get round to fitting them? no point both of us getting them and finding they don't work ! ;-)
