I noticed that both lower end caps on my 440s had some corrosion on them so contacted Progressive to ask if this would be covered under warranty. I received an immediate response telling me they were and that they'd send me a RA for return of the shocks for repair. The rep also suggested that I go to the powder coated black caps and springs if I lived on the coast. While I do not, I had wanted to do this anyway.

The problem: I gave my stock shocks to another member of the forum, since I knew I'd never use them again and he would. Thus I am a bit stumped how I can remove both of the 440s for return. Is there a way to remove both shocks by raising the bike to a certain level, or some way to support it without the shocks? This might sound a bit stupid but I can envision catastrophe when I pull the second shock if I don't have it properly supported.

I've changed shocks on a number of bikes but always did one at a time. I know it must be possible but I am just now sure how to safely do it.

I still have my stock shocks if you want to borrow them.

I sure do Marcus. I almost sent a note to you asking your opinion instead of posting this query. Problem solved. Perhaps I can pick them up this weekend. Progressive aims for a 48 hour turnaround so I'll only have them for a short time.

I can pull them out of the shed and leave them with the wife and you could stop by anytime to pick them up if you don't want to wait until the weekend.

Not to take anything away from the generosity from Bishop...

If you are desperate, make up a 'quick fix' by drilling a couple of holes each in two bits of plank that match the same size and distance measurements as the shocks - use them as a temporary replacement (if the bike is to be left standing).

Marcus, I have to await the RA from Progressive so there is no real hurry this week.

Gapster, that just could work if Marcus didn't have his stockers to lend me. Probably a couple of good pieces of Cedar would do it. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Oh hell fellas...just throw a rope over the truss in your garage..find a sturdy spot on the Roc and hoist it up... But glad you got it solved Mike with good help nearby!!!

just had mine replaced last week for the same problem, looks like it is a known fault.
they didnt offer me the powder coated ones though. :? :?
just hoping the chrome is better on this set????
