the info i am about to give is based on a 2007 classic so it may not be wright on yours.
on mine the spacer goes into that seal and against the bearing about a 3/8 inch an the rest sticks out.
on the picture i can not see the spacer that should be between the bearings if that spacer is missing it would take out the bearings.

I'll ask the dealer tomorrow, I haven't done anything to the rear other than a brake change in a while. Good selling point to the Bridgestone!

Just got back from the dealer, no fault of my own, just a bearing seizure. Axle is good, no missing parts found on the bike, and I put a deposit of $500 down for a new wheel, might see if I can fix the wheel and go darkside on it.

Might have been a good idea to buy an extended warranty, I'm aggravated, but the bike held together with no damage to me. Badass.

Wow. Sure glad it was time to pull the Avon and replace with the darkside. 2015 Rocket X with 17,599 miles. The bearings are shot but heard and felt that before any damage. After buying all the replacement parts and the proper tools to do the job myself including a new bracket for the licence plate holder (EMP) I believe I will be one Happy camper. Good luck with the dealership.

FYI - I do not understand this, but I am on my third set of rear wheel bearings after 40K miles.
I have ditched the OEMs and am now running three AXIS bearings (largest to smallest - 6305 2RS C3 EMQ, 5204 2RS C3 & 6204 2RSC3 EMQ).
