TD is right when I cahnged my valve stem I installed it rotared 180 and now the disc is not in the way I recommend this to anyone as the stem is a cheap part.
Mine is getting changed with the next tire.....what a PITA! Do the newer bikes have vertical stems? I'm going to check next week at the Cleveland Bike Show.
I don't think it would matter much whether you have a 90 degree stem or not. I think what will matter is you find someone that does not rip you bead sealing are installing the CT. Then they will not need any gobley gook to seal it. Which ever tire place you choose mke sure they push the tire bead down into the center so it does tighten up when its going on. That will give a better chance at not ripping the bead.
Ian, quick spelling the word tire the way you do. It's incorrect! The corrects spelling is tiarrs! You've been in this country long enough to know better. 8)
Found another dealer (Japanese, Honda/Yamaha etc.) that is willing to put another tire on the bike. Apparently the bone heads that put the tire on in the first place must've damaged the bead. Then when you reseated it, put silicone on it to seal it up. That's where the problem lies . . . it sealed the tire, but also clogged the valve.
I plan to put a new valve on it, turned to the opposite side away from the disc and will probably have to spring for a new Riken cause the bead is probably tore to hell.
I would go back to the Triumph dealer the muffed it up in the first place, but it's not worth having my bike sitting in there shop for a month or so for a tire issue. They are crap and their service is crap.
The new tire changer has done a ton of C/T's on VTX's and the Gold Wings and doesn't see any problems with mounting one on the Rocket.
Now I just have to locate another tire. Lessons we learn because of sorry ass dealers. :x
Sorry to hear about your troubles. http://www.tiresavings.com is a good place to get a new Riken. If it makes you feel better, just think of how much it would cost to get a new Metz or Avon.
