Rear shocks on r3r

Good to read your information...I will see for progressive, I understand they are really good...I heard too about ohlins and wilbers but very expensive !!!

Amigo,
I been there - done that -
NO progressive 412!!!

NO...Not the Progressive 412s but the 430s. I've owned 23 bikes over the years and have put aftermarket shocks on almost all of them because most of the stock shocks are terrible. These 430's use a whole different valving mechanism than other Progressive shocks and they are, by far, the best shocks I've ever used.
I have turned both of my Harley riding sons onto them as well as my R3 riding bud.
All of them are amazed by the difference in ride quality. No pogo sticking, no wallowing in corners.....just a dead flat response to bumps and ruts.
Hand adjustable preload. They also look fantastic!
Go to Progressive's web site.
These are wonderful shocks! You will not be sorry if you get these.

LOL OK not the 412:D:D:D...and what's about the HAGON NITRO???

Laurent,
I contacted and spoke with a couple different vendors.
I'm dropping the hammer tomorrow on a set of Hagon Nitros from Dave Quinn.
The 18 click damping, adjustable preload and 18mm piston rod did it for me.
The $494 price was not bad either.

PS Did I tell you NOT to buy Progressive 412? :bch:
Progressive sold me them POS and then wouldn't even exchange them for an upgraded, set of $670 944s! I really like the Progressive mono on my other motor; but, it'll br my last Progressive.

I got the Hagon Nitros from Dave Quinn also. I went 20mm longer and dropped the front end the tiny bit you can, combined with front springs and rebuilt it is a good ride especially for the price! If money was no object i think I would buy the Wilburs piggybacks and get the fully adjustable insert on the front from Traxxion Dynamics. The rear is still bit harsh over sharp bumps but WAy better all around.

I guess I'm just oblivious, but I've always found the stock shocks on my classic to be comfortable? Part of me wants to upgrade for the control, but the ride has always been smooth enough for me, barely even feel the RR tracks.:D That being said, I rarely ride 2 up, and only weigh in at 180.
Can only imagine how smooth the ride might be on upgrades if they're that much better for so many

Hello Zenbiker, thanks a lot for your advices...and do you know about the Progressive 444 Series in relation with the 430???

I know nothing about the 444s and understand that many have been disappointed with the 412s and 440s.
The 430s are fabulous. All I can do is tell people about my experience after 50 years of motorcycling having left NO bike stock out of my 20+ machines.
Most of my bikes ended up with one or another brand of aftermarket shocks because almost all OEM shocks suck. Some were better than stock and some were actually worse and there were others that made no difference at all.
I want to hear from one person who has actually tried the 430s that thinks anything less of them than I do.

It is not a question of "smoothness." The stock shocks have terrible rebound dampening and allow the bike to wallow in serious turns with any surface irregularities. You may not know what you are missing because I had no idea just how bad my stock shocks were (although I knew they were not great) until I changed them out.
