rear seat removed

Hi 1olbull, the 2300 is a "novelty" plate. I was tossing up between that or "BORT"

Same thing. You have to register and insure your vehicle for it to be on the road. It's called rego (registration) in Oz and licence tags (or tabs) in the USA.

Thanks for the response, idk67.
Insurance is not required on motors here in Washington.
We must post yearly tabs on plate and carry current registration paper.
I carry insurance because it's stupid not to, in my humble opinion. Plus I want theft coverage.

Along with registration charge we also have compulsory third party insurance, which covers injuries to third parties ie passengers or people other than the two vehicle operators (1st and 2nd parties). When we say 'rego' we generally mean both registration and third party insurance as in most states it's paid to the RTA as part of the same transaction even though the insurance part goes to the actual insurer. Vehicle insurance covering damage or theft is different and separate and up to the individual - as in the US.

Thanks for the explanation.
So, you must have "3rd Party" even if you never ride double and this also applies to passenger in cages?
No liability is required for the M/C rider or cage driver?
I also reckon youse have a helmet requirement as well?

Actually I wasn't quite right; it covers injuries or death caused to anyone. The "2nd party" is the insurer of the 1st party (rider/driver/owner). And yes, we have compulsory helmet laws throughout Australia. Applies to pretty much everyone except Sikhs.

We've had the helmet law repealed in Florida for many years now; and a lot of Hardley folks don't wear them.

Personally; I'm not that stupid.

But then; I ride a R3R, not a Hardley.

I'm in AZ and we have never had a helmet law. Something to do with the "Wilde West" mentality.

I wear a full face all the time. Even when I'm running a windshild on my R3R. I usually run with the visor up unless its really hot or cold. Thought about just removing the visor for our 4 months of spring and 4 months of fall. Yes, that only leaves 3 for Summer and 1 for winter. Some may say it's 8 months of summer and we don't have a winter, but those people don't ride motorcycles year round.

I am curious about the motorcycle insurance costs in states with NO helmet law as compared to states that have helmet laws.
Anyone know???

If one rides motor with NO insurance and NO helmet and has a minor crash that causes him brain injury - who pays?
