Do the rear saddlebag guards on the Touring keep the exhaust pipes off the ground in a tipover, or just protect the bags? Was thinking about some additional protection, but no point if the pipes get crunched anyway.

The bars on the R3T protect the pipes as well, at least with a gentle tip over. I hope that helps.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I thought if I found a used or salvage pair at a good price, I'd put them on. Ever since I took the Ride Like a Pro class, I've enjoyed practicing low-speed maneuvers and such, but when you push your luck, you occasionally drop the bike. With front and rear guards, no harm no foul.

Very true. My friend Bob with a Touring recently tipped over the bike while he and I were on a group ride. A dog ran in front of us. We had to clamp down on the brakes, Just as we stopped Bob lost balance and tipped to the left side. I was amazed at how well the front and rear bars saved his bike from any damage.
