rocket three x
After three weeks of work without a day off i'm getting next week off. First time in a year I get to take a little vacation. Got everything I need for the 20,000 mile tune up on the Rocket. The cable for tune ECU finally came in from britain, only took about three weeks. Am starting at the front wheel and working my way back to the licence plate (tags are here I just aint got them on yet) I am sure i'll hit a snag or to so i'll be posting a bit as I get confused. Really looking forward to working on the Rocket and getting it fit and trim for the winter. Nothing worse than finding yourself stuck on the side of the road in 20 degree weather because you forgot to do or did not know to do the proper maintenance. Figured I might as well get the Harley up and running good, because I might have a delay on the Rocket waiting for valve shims. New tires (michelin commanders front and back) and new wheel bearings front and back. Plus I have to change out all three fluids on the Harley. Weather looks like it is going to be great so maybe if I am lucky I can do the work on the front pourch vice the barn. Been reading and studying the hell out of the Rocket so we should be ok. If not I will be asking for help from everybody. It should be a lot of fun.:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Enjoy your wrench time. Did 5 tire changes, two oil changes, a brake job on a spyder and changed fork seals on a streetglide yesterday. I'm riding today

An ambitious Reb you be, Morris! My back is now sore just reading about all that work you did.

ah yes i know that feeling well. nervous anticipation and the hope you don't make a balls of something..

back in the '12 i spent several weeks planning the Carpenter 240 install, and had a week off to execute it. bear in mind now the rocket was my only set of wheels at the time, and this was my 1st time opening an engine!
planned to within an inch of its life. some invaluable phone support from bob and forum support from warp & art and i pulled it off.

different story this year though, with the fuel system/supercharger/clutch/EMS. i have a few sets of wheels so i had no problem putting the beast up on the operating theatre bed and taking the time.
sometimes i wish all i had to do was routine maintenance! haven't washed a bike or car in several months :D
