timing chain, sprocket(s), tensioner, et al.
The resolutions amongst the members has varied though the focus is on the timing chain assembly. Some have been fortunate to have had the entire et al replaced and to my knowledge the problem had been full resolved. In my case it was a half assed attack. The upper sprockets were not replaced and in time the rattle has returned.

no it gets louder as the engine warms up and it is around the 2700 - 2900 rpm range it sounds like its coming from the the left front of the engine ?? sounds like a rattle or a tapping like a rocker loose on a old chevy engine !!

Hi Jerry,

When I Asked about the whining noise many Rockets have one of our colorful members said that "Triumphs sound like a tractor ****ing a sewing machine" .

I'm not trying to say your bike doesn't have a problem. Take it to a good dealer if you have one close and get their opinion. But not all Triumph mechanics are worth their salt. Try to find out their level of Rocket experience.

Do you have triple filters ? Some riders say they can hear the intake valves slamming shut after installing pod filters.

Mine has a very mild case of paint can rattle with zero rattle after a 1 minute warm up. It was worse last fall. This year I checked the oil after a brief warm up before my 1st ride. I had to add about 3/4 quart to bring it to full. Now my rattle is about 90% better that last year. Not that it will fix your but it won't hurt. At 14.90 a quart that stuff should work miracles.

Any chance you could post a sound clip?

Good Luck.

the bike is all stock nothing done to it and it might be just me not use to a british bike yet i will give it more time and get it to my triumph dealer !!
