2015 Triumph Rocket III Touring
I just brought home a new 2015 Black & Cranberry R3T [it was a dealer leftover at a fire sale price - there is still one available]. It has 35 miles on it. I doubled the mileage on a short run tonight - had to stop to barbecue.

I will need to watch my speed as - it is entirely too, too easy to be at 70+ mph on a 55 mph road, without even thinking.

First impressions:
** Cornering is nice - the bike seems to want to 'right itself' when coming out out of the corner.
** Slow speed maneuvering seems OK. I had to catch it when doing a hard right turn from a stop. With the additional weight, it just makes the handling slightly different. A couple hours on a parking lot around cones should help.
** I have a Triumph America and the additional 275 lbs compared to that bike really makes the ride smooth out.
** The wind screen is way too short. Will have one from Clearview ordered by the time bed time gets here tonight.
** The seating makes the driver sit higher - the driver sits on it and not in it. This changes my shoulder and arm positions. May need to look at risers in the future. Not necessarily uncomfortable, just different.
** I can really feel the heat from the engine on the legs. It will be nice in the late fall and early spring, not so much now.
** It is hard to be fair and judge the seat but it is not as bad as the America but I can feel some parts of the rear that I did not feel before. The custom Seth Laam seat on the America made a world of difference, it would like do the same on the R3T.

I did hear some noise at slow parking lot speeds I am not used to. Not certain if this is transmission noise or the shaft drive.
A tachometer would be nice.

Hitting the starter button is definitely different than on a smaller bike. The shaking as it fires reminds me of watching NHRA Funny cars. Once all that weight starts moving, it reminds me of NHRA Top Fuel cars.

All in all I am excited about my morning 55 mile commute. It should be entertaining on a couple of the twisties.

So far I am excited to be an owner of a R3T!!!

Welcome from New Jersey!!
Wait till you get use to her and then you'll be looking for more power!! The heat from the pipes offers no redeeming value in the cold!! Enjoy oh yea, seat sucks but the rest is a blast!!

Great thing about the Rocket is it is very customizable. The bad thing is the T variant comes electronically limited in the power department and most open her up with a new tune in the ecu. That would only exacerbate your speed issue though =) I know they are electronically limited at 120mph maybe you could ask for a tune that is even more restricted =)

All jokes aside, Rockets are great fun and you've found a great forum to learn from with outstanding folks ready to help.

The first time you go to pass someone just smile and test he throttle you won't stop smiling

Good luck with your new love and long may you ride!

G'day and Welcome from down under ,the day I rode my 2011 R3T from the dealer I turned around and rode back into the parking lot and asked the Salesman to get a mechanic out to check the engine I thought something was seriously wrong all the engine noises worried me, the mechanic said that it was "normal" and I would get used to it ,I changed to a full face helmet that made it less intrusive ,45000 Ks later still rattly and the intake sounds like a canary on steroids but nothing has exploded out of the crankcase so all good

Congrats. They got the red and black inverted from what it should be on that model year but other than that you got a good one.

Basically, to fix what's "wrong" on it you need to visit the derestricting thread in this forum, buy the R3T specific risers from Rivco, a +1.5 inch clutch cable somewhere (like Barnett Clutches), and eventually better rear shocks and maybe front springs. Progressive Suspension 444 and Progressive springs is an easy swap that does good things.

Yeah, with the riser on the clutch cable is too short to route correctly. You can pull it up next to the triple tree but it can get pinched when you turn fully to the left, so the good solution is to get a slightly longer cable and route it correctly. People do reroute also and it's almost certainly fine - and clutch cables do need replacing from time to time, so rerouting first and using it that way and then getting a slightly longer one when replacing the cable anyway is also an option.
