R3 Exhaust question/s

Then there's the in production performance oriented full systems which have quite different sounds but all add a good bit of power, DESPITE what anyone says, this community STILL hasn't seen a back to back, same bike same dyno same day comparison of the three to see which makes the most power on a R3 without a modified motor
With the placement of your CAPS this sounds like a bit of a complaint :). It will be tricky doing three in one day, if one tunes the bike PROPERLY it takes a while. If you can line up the planets, bike, exhausts etc I will do the three pipes for the price of one tune for the owner of the bike. Surely that is a fair offer :). Get Paul from Viking organised with his pipes and pay me two days pay and I will do four tunes .......

A dyno
If you change the stock exhaust and do away with the cats you will need a retune .
Triumph dealerships can provide a tune for the tors exhaust but if you want to make intake mods also , you will need a custom tune that triumph doesn't provide .
A dyno tune is carried out on a rolling road where the technician will measure the bikes hp and magically trim the bikes fuelling and ignition to obtain maximum performance !
Good dyno tuners are usually miles away and most will only tune via a piggy back ignition module , namely a power commander !
Most of the guys here use tune ECU which , if you are relatively competent with a tablet or laptop , can be used to upload proven custom maps to your bikes ECU plus a host of other really useful things .

No complaints, just sick of a certain brand constantly claiming to be superior with nothing to back it up.

God I wish I was on your side of the pacific, I'd love to see it done like that.

OK you guys on the other side of the world, step up to the plate! Surely there are enough of you running the most popular and discussed exhaust systems that can benefit from probably the best tuner on the planet tickling your bike. Let's get a group ride together, visit Nev's place, and end the discussion! Sounds like someone is offering a super duper tuning discount for the benefit of mankind.

Ok, so here are my thoughts, and it's not because I'm trying to be cheap ( I have a full machine/ fab shop here) Remove factory mufflers, extract the cats, install the Dynojet Power commander 3 (find the right map) Re-install factory mufflers (now empty) and the K&N airbox eliminator. Do I need an 02 eliminator as well?

Guess I should let everyone see her :)

I got mine from Dave Platt in the UK. Reasonably priced, sound great, weigh a lot less, removed the cats and increased hp a bit ( 10 hp?)

Allan I also put on a set of David Platt Outlaw pipes. Was wondering what tune did you use? I have a lot of decel pop. Thanks

WELL Carpenter has Rockets show up with all makes of exhausts including one off and home made designs so we get to see just about everything and BOB runs them on the Dyno if the owners insist on keeping them then they cant figure out why they cant get the power the other bikes make Thats why we go to the Dyno SHOOTOUTS and TEST our bikes on the DRAG STRIPS the proof is in the Pudding

New here, New R3 owner. Finally after 13 years I sold my VTX1800R with V&H big shots (no baffle) So you know I am extremely disappointed with the stock sound and even performance to some degree but will be addressing that next. The exhaust note is 1st on the agenda. I have spent literally hours researching online and have read 100's of opinions. Problem with all that is "mass confusion" as to the direction I should actually take.
I wish to dramatically change the sound of her but not to the extent I had with the VTX. Currently I believe I wish to keep the stock pipes, believe I need a cat bypass pipe? and a new map? What mods are required in achieving this and where do I get the 3 in to 2 bypass pipe for my R3 touring model?
I thank everyone in advance for any help you can give me.
I'm using and absolutely love the D and D performance exhaust, the are large diameter look great and sound incredible, also if you want to be really loud, the baffles are easy to remove and put back in. They come with their own tune.
