Purchasing a used 2020 Rocket 3 GT - what to look out for?

Hi;
I am considering purchasing a used 2020 Rocket 3 GT with 1700 miles from a dealer. They do not have its service history and the service light is on. It is all stock. I do not have a feel on the reliability of this bike, what should I look for or ask them to check to make sure it will not have major issues in the future? Not sure if it is still under Warrantee.

Standard factory warranty should be 2 years, so I think it should still be under warranty. I'd be concerned with the service light on at only 1700 miles. Also there was a recall done to bleed the rear brake, so check if that was done.

The service wrench should be of no concern as it is set up to activate at 600 miles (first service) and again at 1 year or 10,000 miles. The first service is most important for the oil change. You need to make certain the oil has been changed at the service interval and have the dealer complete the annual service. It still should have a few months remaining on the warranty.

Yeah, this makes no sense to me either. The effort it would take them to clear the light (if it's really a non-issue) would be WELL worth the apparent value to prospective buyers. If they're not clearing it, I'd be concerned there's a real reason for it. Despite the bike likely still being in the warranty period, perhaps it already had the warranty claim denied by Triumph for some sort of abuse or violation.

If it's not a Triumph dealer it's very possible they don't have the ability to reset the light. I picked mine up used as well from a non triumph dealer with 1100 miles on it and even though they did service the bike, they couldn't reset the light. I took it to a Triumph dealer when I picked it up and the selling dealer paid for the reset. Still has factory warranty until Feb

If I was a non Triumph dealer, I would take it to a Triumph dealer to have it reset before I tried to sell it, especially a late model expensive bike like that. There are other dealers and other bikes, I'd pass.

if it is just the wrench have it cleared
if it is a code find out what it is before it is cleared
it may come back on b4 u get home or it may come back on in a month.

Naw, just to cheap to reset. They sold me new bike with empty gas tank!
