I have a electro ELX-65 that is Dot approved its a large (chrome)
I bought it and decided it was not for me.

I live in Illinois which has no helmet laws at all
I do use one often mostly because it keeps the sun off me in the summer I found it is better to use one then bake my brains.
I switched to a modular so I can lift it to have a smoke.
personally I believe the best protection is a full face helmet although helmets just make the difference between open and closed caskets.
I say this because when a 3000 pound car runs you over your done anyway.

The pudding bowl helmet is the retro/classic. I just put a DOT sticker on the rear and convert it.

The owner of an old motorcycle shop in San Antonio gave me a role of DOT sitckers a few years back. I asked where he got the Dept of Transportation stickers and he told me they were not. It stood for Dan's Old Tavern.

Does it really matter if it is DOT approved? I doubt it you'd ever find one since it would then not be a true pudding bowl repro.

I'll be in San Diego next week and just found that British Motorcycle Supply is a dealer for them. I contacted BMS and will stop by to take a look while there.
 

We have three. I sometimes use them in the summer, but only with a good windshield.

This past summer I got on my wife's bike wearing one ... no windshield ... hit a bee ... stung in my face just below my right eye ... lots of immediate tears streaming down my face and flooding my eyes ... couldn't see ... well, you get the idea.

Like I say, they are nice if you have a GOOD WINDSHIELD :?

Just for the record, my right cheek kicked the bee's ass. He died, I just got stung and looked like one of those monkey's with big puffy colored cheeks.
 
I sent a note to British Motorcycle Supply asking if they had any in inventory and that I'd stop by the shop next week. I was under the impression that they had a retail outlet. They do not. I received the following reply.

"We do not have a retail space. We are a manufacturer and importer.. In San Diego we only have a customs bonded warehouse for goods to land in the USA. We are at the Washington D.C. International Motorcycle Show next weekend and the New York International Motorcycle show the following weekend. Goods are only available over the web or at Trade shows in the USA. They are obviously a good source for Brit products in the US.
 
I just checked their web site and did not find the pudding bowl helmets. Disappointing. I also saw that they have the classic Belfast riding jacket for $479. :shock:


I sold my entire Belfast riding suit a few years ago for about $200. I had gained some weight and it was too tight. I now have lost the weight and my buddy has my Belfast suit.
 
Anyone see that poor blokes face on telly the other day.Got hit in the face by a pheasant.Made a right mess of him and he was wearing a full face helmet.Open face may look cool but its not big and its not clever.
 
Davida are fantastic helmets and like everything in this World, you pay for what you get 8)

I would buy a pudding style if I wasn't such a pudding but I am in the market for one of their open face models
