Pudding Bowl Helmets

I pay no attention to other biker's woes, mishaps, helmets, jackets or selection of gear when determining what I will wear or how I will protect myself while riding. We've engaged in this discussion previously. Taken caution to extreme, none of us would even be riding. It is dangerous, just ask any motorcycle hating cager.

HCI makes several styles of P-bowl helmets-all DOT approved. I use a HCI Retro 50 from time to time. Does the trick just fine.

I think they had the DOT rating yanked from the Retro 50. I emailed them about it (as it is no longer available on the site) and got a response from the owner saying the expect the replacement to be available in the spring.

As far as open fave vs. full face vs. staying at home, I tend to agree with Gasket. I try to ride safe and avoid the noids but at the end of the day I am really only trying my best to hold on to a 2.3 liter beast and how safe can that possibly be?

Well this is true. No one would notice the difference if I got my ugly mug rearranged. :D

Actually, I wear a full face helmet nearly all the time. Both my wife and I like my face the way it is.

I received another note from BMC Gear. They aren't carrying the pudding bowl because it is not DOT approved. He mentioned a lawsuit in Malibu, apparently over an injury a rider suffered with a non-DOT helmet. Here we go again. Now this irritates the heck out of me. If someone wears a non-DOT certified helmet and gets injured, he shouldn't be suing anyone. Now I can't get the helmet I want because some other jerk doesn't want to take responsibility for his own actions. I'd like to get a pudding bowl just for vintage shows etc.
