Just got my R3T back from the dealers after having the valves adjusted. They also installed the latest tune according to them.

The bike now runs much worse than it did before! On a steady throttle at anything below 70 the engine surges and hunts. I would go back to them, and will if I have to, but wanted to see if I could get some feedback off you guy's first

I already had the Gipro fitted and am wondering if this is conflicting with this latest tune? Should I try the 12 minute tune? if so how do I do it?

12 minute tune. Fire the bike up and let it run at idle until the cooling fan starts. Done.

Surging sounds like a throttle issue (like tps). If you have a Tuneboy check your throttle body balance as well.

Sensei, I may have a misunderstanding of the 12 minute tune. I have been under the impression that you start the bike and let it idle until the fan starts and then start the timer for the 12 minutes. Am I mistaken?

Dealer said to start bike with no throttle, let it idle until the fan cuts in twice then turn it off. I've done it but not been out yet so will report back tomorrow.

12 minute tune explained.
Start bike.
Don't touch throttle.
Wait till fan kicks in.
Start timer.
I always wait 15 minutes after it starts,
just to make sure I got the FULL 12 minutes.
Kill bike.
Start it up and ride it.
that's it.

just because you got the "latest" tune,
doesn't necessarily mean you have the "correct" tune.
My dealer did that to me once.
I had them put the old tune back in.
Also after they put my new TPS in they said they did the "10" minute tune.
They didn't.
They started it up, let it run for 10 minutes.
it sucked.
I did the 12 minute tune in their parking lot and it fixed it AFTER
the new TPS install.

Thanks for that, that's pretty different to what the dealer said. I will redo the tune tomorrow before I test ride it

Tune boy won't load a tune with the gigpro **** on it as T Evans found out. It could not find all the gears as the gig pro was fooling it. I wonder if the Triumph computer is having the same issue? Of course they had the throttle bodies off maybe they disturbd the sync between the TPS and the idke stepper motor? 12 minute tune is like Skip said, Myself I start the bike up cold and shut her down after 30 minutes as I found t=it takes between 12 to 15 minutes for the fan to turn on. So thirty insures I get her done and I don't have to sit there and wait for the fan to come on.

Ok did the tune and took her out for a ride.

Running like a bag of nails  really popping on decel, surging and hunting at a constant throttle and cut out when I closed the throttle (restarted straight away)

Took in a sweet running bike and have got a turd back :mad:

They're coming to pick it up next tuesday so will post the findings!

Last time I was in they wanted to "update" my ECM program .... NOT ON YOUR LIFE!!! I told them. I sure hope they can put back your original tune, did you know what it was?
