I went on a ride yesterday bike was running great stopped to get something to drink, got back on the bike turn the key everything lit up correctly, hit the start button and nothing ,I had to roll start the dang thing ,I checked my battery cables for corrosion everything looked fine,I got home and sprayed some wd-40 on the starter button and it starts up,I wonder if it was just corrosion in the switch not letting it start or another underlying problem ???? Has anyone else had a similiar situation ???

I would suggest you go on the multiplug pin corrosion trail under the Tank.. clean and re dielectric grease the connectors and same with your contols bit of work involved..just done mine when I seviced it at the weekend.. found a couple suspect pins..

Greasing the connectors is a great idea, I have done same on my bike, but I suspect your problem was either the kickstand or clutch kill switches failing. My bike still does it from time to time, usually a couple of rotations of the kickstand or clutch solves the problem. Begging, pleading, bargaining, and cursing also helps....;)

Also put some dialectic grease inthe handle bar switches as well they do dry out and the contacts oxidise I have had a similar problem on my honda ST 1100 also earlier this year riding home from Philip Island in torrential rain my lights kept going on to higher beam so I had to flick the hi-low switch a few times to clear the water when I got home I opened it up and there was almost no grease left on switch... Soon fixed that!!!!!!

I had the same problem and the same solution (WD40) fixed it.Must be easy 12 months ago and it hasn't happened again.

My clutch switch started messing up while at MV, i learned to wiggle it back to life just to get home, glad you got it working asgain!:)
