Cheers for that. Not used to the dry sump. Wet sump would blow seals if overfilled, that I understand.

a little over is not going to hurt.
to much oil blowing out the seal is an old wifes tale
i will use an automatic transmission for example when overfilling the trans the oil gets up high enough to get into the turning parts that whips the oil and gains a lot of air (aerated ) this expands the oil till it comes out the vent and if it gets on a hot cat then it will burst into flames.
on my 07 it does not matter much whether its on stand, off stand, engine off or engine running. there is very little difference.
just as long as you start it up long enough to pump the oil out of the bottom of motor.
ps mine can set for a week and still be full.

Yes on the RIII's there is an o-ring on one of the drain plugs shaft that seals oil from draining into sump. If this o-ring gets twisted, nicked or damaged, you can't keep oil in the tank. Don't know anything about the 2500's R3's.
