oil change intervals ( Members survey)

The main "dirt" in dino oil is actually the oil itself. As it breaks down (litterraly) the molecules shred and recombine in much less desirable ways. Synthetic oil is is manufactured so that you dont get the abrasive clumps. You can feel the difference in a finger/thumb friction test of used oil. It will last a lot longer because it is a lot more stable and does not break down as easily. How ever changing it more often will not hurt the engine one bit.

Mine gets changed every 3 to 5 thousand miles depending on time of year or if a big trip is planned. What's nice in my case is that the dealer I bought the bike from gives free oil changes for as long as I own the bike, up to 4 times a year, using whatever synthetic Triumph is recomending at the time. Normally they give it a good once over and load the latest tune for free at the same time. If I keep the Roadster long enough they'll end up losing money on me since I do the other maintenance myself.

well i got the bike with 3688 miles on, apparently it got new oil at 500 miles and again at 3688, i changed it then at 7711, and it's currently oil-less at 10435 miles as i install carpenter kit. of course it will be changed twice this week alone due to running in engine

so about 3-4000 miles for me

no more then 5000 on mine and I use a Joe gibbs racing oil on the big one and Mobile on the stocker (Gracie). Nothing to good for the beasties :)

Every 5000 to 6000 kmts with fully synthetic, do it (and all other maintenance) myself .
As others have stated, better to spend relatively small $ on oil and filters than major engine work.

I change the oil in my engines when I think it is time. I have 50 years of experience to do it. No one puts a wrench or instrument on any of my machines but me. And that includes my body. No doctor gets a dime. gary

Not sure anyone would do well performing self-surgery.
But, good luck & please post pictures.
