Hi all,
Some basic questions for the next 6 months of ownership of my 2010 Roadster. I will have to get a new rear tyre at some point. I used to run Bridgestones on my old T595 but have used Avons on my Harley Streetbob and Roadking which have proved really good. I see that the Bridgestone Excedra's have been recommended but i know little about them. My riding style is medium to fast cruising/touring, whats your opinions?

Secong question, does the 2010 have the torque restiction in the gears and will i be able to derestrict with TuneECU if i buy the cable?

The overwhelming consensus is Bridgstone excedra MAX (not regular excedras,I can attest to that) and Avon Cobras on the front. I have a 13 touring, had no issues deristricting with the ECU cable.

Another solid alternative for the front tire is the Michelin Commander II 140/75 17. It will dramatically improve low-speed handling as well as overall turn-in and tracking, plus it will make your Rocket feel 150-200 lbs lighter than it is. If your Roadster has ABS you cannot use the Bridgestone Exedra Max 130 up front as it will confuse your ABS sensors and thus defeat the ABS' functioning properly. The Exedra Max is currently the go to motorcycle tire for the rear, as others have said.

You continue to report this, Phil; but, note that it dangerously lowers the peg rails of a Roadster and decreases its lean angle.
I have a photo of where it dragged and dumped me last year.
The crash resulted in my left leg and ankle requiring surgery that left me with two plates and 13 screws I didn't have before.

I have the complete opposite to most, Avon Cobra on the rear and Exedra Max 150x80 x16 on the front, handles great and I am happy with the wear rate,

Geeze, Steve, it really didn't register with me back then that that was the cause of your mishap. A you know, I ride a Standard and for me the smaller tires have worked out exceptionally well. Like you, I am very safety conscious, so I would never knowingly recommend anything to fellow riders that could be hazardous.

I have removed the post that contained my recommendation and if and when I confirm that the smaller tire did you the dirty as you claim, I can assure you that I will only suggest the 130 and 140 options for the older Classic and Standard models.

NOT a problema, Amigo.
Your experience is valuable to others new to the Rocket and I would just note that what you state works for you and is based upon riding a standard or classic; not so much for a Roadster as the peg rails are mounted lower.
Frankly, the way most ride it would likely not touch pavement on a STOCK Roadster; however, I worry about those that lower the rear suspension AND then go with a 130 on the front.
