Hello all, i am new to using TuneCU, i have downloaded but have not attempted to use at this time. Since i am new to using this any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. do not want to destroy this beast. I have 2007 Rocket 3 Touring with about 21,000 miles on it. Any Do's and Dont's?

I am having some hesitation on the idle and the beginning of giving it throtle. thought i might adjust to accomodate but not sure what to adjust, thought about the air flow.

any help for newbie to this? i am use to v-twins, this is a different beast.

You cant really do any damage but you can cause yourself problems with low bike and notebook PC batteries so always use main power supplies to both whilst you play.

Connect the thing and have a look around.. understand menu operations and the important adaption reset proceedure..

Basics..

Read map means get the map from the bike ECU into TuneECU.
(I would read the existing ECU map and save it in a file onya PC incase things go wrong for some reason then you can reload it into the bike and start again)

Download means put the TuneECU on the screen into the Bike ECU.

Reset Adaptions means clear the Bike ECU memory ready for new learning.

12 Minute reset means Run the bike at idle for 12 minutes, timed after the cooling fan kicks in.. ECU learns new mapping figures and holds in memory.

Check this link same proceerures for most models including R3...
TuneECU (free TuneBoy) software demo on Triumph Tiger 1050 SE - YouTube

Hope this helps :D

I thought the 12 minute tune adjusted the mapping to what triumph thinks are the optimum settings. I've never 12 min tuned my bike and i was able to use tuneecu and reset adaptations just fine.

LOL:D

Yep you are correct Hegels.. I will have to stop saying do a 12 minute reset

I will rephase..;)

I personally prefere to run a 12 minute ECU map reset to make sure the ECU and the Bike are running correctly before I take it out for testing... its a 45yr Mechanics thing drilled in to make absolutly sure all is well..

If you Guys don't want to do it fine..:) I am only offering my methods... this is why some dealerships never do the job right because they don't double check there work..

No offense intended :D

Thanks to all, i will open and save what i have currently, this i will probably need.
i will play around with it before i make any adjustments, also any idea on what to change to improve the slight hesitation on the idle accelleration? maybe the airflow?

Hanso maybe the best person to ask as he has been studying and learning AFR mapping etc.. I suggest you PM him and just outline the problem.

I am sure he will help if he can..he growls a little sometimes but he seldom bites :D
