new ramair kit

i had one of the first batch that split.......I bit the bullet and bought another one from Ramair through EBay but not fitted it yet........I explained to them that I had the first version that broke and they "kindly" did me a deal on a new one...just a "measley" £100!!!!! ........if I fit this one and it splits I will ask to be reimbursed for the full amount for BOTH
 
I payed £110 for my one and i think ramair are going to say to me bend over and give them £110 again.i will find out tomorrow if they email me but it would be nice if they say very sorry here is a new one no cost.

Not mine they never!.....they were quite happy to relieve me of another £100 even after I'd explained the situation.....they never even apologised ......have to wait and see how long this one lasts!......only trouble is,I don't do more than 1500 miles a year so it could take quite a while to be at fault....although the first one split quite early
 
Id like to chip in here , this is only a guess but makes sense as to how these things keep splitting and it has nothing to do with over tightening. The bear claw over the ramair is a tight fit , when the engine is revved it twists therefore twisting the filter up against the claw , the only give is in the rubber boot area but because the clamps are metal and have a reasonably sharp edge they cause fatigue in the rubber along that line. Fitting them with wide zipties in place of the metal clamps may help alleviate this fatigued area , i only really thought about this last weekend when i noticed how much my individual filters lifted from engine twist while revving .
 
Your right there as the air filter on that pod is all dented in from the bear claw so that makes sense.
 
was thinking of switching to a Ramair with Ozclaw for the less induction roar but will go back to plan "A" and look at modifiing a Ozclaw to fit over My Small K&N RX 4040-1's
 
UNI Filters are the go for me and they are cheep. I still have a brand new ramair (first Gen) in the cupboard.
