new R3T owner,nobody feels for me,its OK

Welcome from Ohio. Congrats on the new ride. The best part about my wife having her own bike is when we ride side by side my MPG improves 15 - 20 % due to the drafting effect ??? Or at least that's the story that I'm sticking to.

Welcome from Idaho. That is a keeper wife. Sort of like mine. My wife insisted she buy the Rocket for my 50th birthday back in '07. So I let her. I got the bike and the payment book. A few years later I insisted we buy her a Porsche as a graduation present for her PHD. So I did. I gave her the payment book. :p

Our 2 favorite toys.

Sounds like a fair few cool wives on this site - I'll add mine to the list.

I'd had a few issues with my Guzzi and had "kind of" agreed that I was going to change the bike and was looking at an R3. No rush though, coming into winter so I'd wait until Spring.

A week later I saw an R3T in the local dealer - 8 months old and only 800 miles on the clock, loads of extras and £9,995 (about £4,000 less than book). Mentioned it to the wife and she reminded me that I said I was going to wait until Spring; a couple of hours later I rang the dealer and asked if I could put a holding deposit on the bike but was told he had taken a deposit only an hour earlier; when asked how firm he thought the sale was he hesitated a second and then said he thought it was pretty solid but why didn't I come in and he could let me have an R3 on test for a day to see if it was the bike I wanted.

So 3 days later we turned up a dealers and had a look around the showroom. Right at the front was the R3T I had rang about with a large sold sign on it BUT with my name on it. The wife, knowing how much I wanted the bike had beat me to the deposit but told the dealer I may ring up so not to say anything.

I would add that all this coming on the back of a bad time for us - my sister had died suddenly 4 months earlier and my wife's dad the month before. I guess it kind of put anew perspective on life for us both and we now try to do what we want because we understand that life is fragile and if you wait for something you may never see it.

Oh, and like the rest of you I got the payment book :) but I didn't mind.
