Yamaha xv 950
Hello and good day to all. I am new to this forum and first have to admit to a bit of fraud. I have not yet purchased the 2016 R3 Roadster. With that said I hope you will all still accept me. I am trading in my I really mean upgrading my 2011 yamaha vstar 950 tourer to the almighty R3. I am in Canada and ninroduction. $17500 for the matte finish and am getting $5900 on trade for my vstar with 14 750 kms. I immediately am getting the ram air kit which seems incredibly easy to install. Can anyone tell me HP gains on ram air. Also I am immediately going with Carpenter racing exhaust- equal length pipes. Again I am curious if anyone can tell me expected gains from these 2 items plus dyno tune. I have heard numbers and my brain tells me to expect at least 25 HP gains and similar torque gains. Please chime in on this. Eventually I want to get the 210 HP package from Carpenter which doesn't give you the exhaust or ram air in that package I believe, please correct me if I am wrong. This Carpenter package is all that's really available here or I would go TTS supercharger but won't do mail order from Europe and am afraid of the install. Please if anyone has done the TTS Supercharger can you tell me difficulty level and any gains. Carpenters I can drive to and leave the machine and anyhow that's at least 2 years down the road so probably shouldn't have even mentioned it but I am so excited about this purchase and cannot believe I haven't thought of this before. I apologize to all for the lengthy into ducting.

Welcome from Northern Nevada Serge. I am a new owner myself and upgraded from a Harley Road glide. There aren't a lot of gains from changing the intake itself from what I've read here. To get the full benefit you will need to change the exhaust. I would recomend enjoying the new ride and researching the tuning options. There is a lot to open up just from unrestricting the secondary butterflys in the throttle bodies. I believe first through third gear they will only open 40% of the way stock. They do this (I believe) to keep new rocket owners from killing themselves. They can be opened 100% by using tune ecu. I have yet to do this. You sound like you are on the search for more power. The R3 will keep you satisfied and is a good foundation in the quest for more.

Thanks guys and I will keep researching. Shot term is cheap gains and long term is my ultimate ride. Thanks for the input.

Welcome from one of the Aussies.
When I changed my intake and pipes I gained 40 hp then I did some internal work. Just go straight to the 240 package:p
