I just took delivery of a nee-to-me 2013 R3 Touring and excited to get rolling. Took it out today for a short neighborhood ride and then go to inspecting the bike (I bought it and had it shipped from a reliable seller).

Previous owner put on a custom exhaust and installed RamAir. However, I need help identifying the exhaust. It is welded to the headers so not easy to remove. Incidentally, i am thinking of going back to stock. I like a quiet bike as I enjoy the journey. Does anyone know the exhaust? It could just be a custom fab.

Also, the Ram Air seems to be generation 1 before the grouves for the throttle bodies was added to the mounting bracket. It appears to be in good shape, but I am wondering if I should replace it with the newer model. Seems to be good, but I don’t want any hidden problems.

That's a stock set of head pipes with some sort of aftermarket megaphone stuck on it.

It should be an easy job putting her back to stock if you can scrounge up the missing bits. I can't tell from the pictures but I suspect the megaphone is just a slip joint connection over the end of the head pipe.

In picture number one, the shield with the bolt in it is a stock piece. If you remove it you will be able to see how the megaphone is mounted.

Bills right might not even be welded. If it is my bet is with a we bit of careful grinding you can probably save the header. If not and you want I'm sure I can find a header laying around for ya.

Oh yeah @Jay depending on if the bike had a different tune loaded to go with the exhaust and ramair filter it might need a different tune for the more restrictive stock exhaust to run correctly. Not really a big deal to do and there are a couple of very good ones available.

Where in VA are you located? Be more than happy to throw my laptop in the saddle bags and assist if needed.

Back up in the frozen wasteland. I must say though without snow we'd just have brown ground everwhere. Trying to get up the initiative to go start up the snow blower to get ahead of the 4 inches we got last night. So todays snow doesnt get so hard to move. Oh and yes I miss the rainy warm south :D

Yuck. With a bit of luck I might get to squeeze in a ride today. Post chores and pre rain of course.

Now back on track. @Jay a member on the site @Paul Bryant makes a very nice dual exhaust that will slip right on to the stock head pipe. Don't know how loud it is but he should pop up here shortly and fill us in.

VERY good looking bit and might not be way more than the cost of the stock stuff.

Thanks for the feedback. It definitely is some sort of a megaphone exhaust. I pulled out the resonator just to inspect the inside and it looks like somebody pieced this together. It is welded to the header, so I will need to replace this with a good stock header. I’d like to go with some slip on’s, but definitely leaning towards the OEMs and need to check the tune to probably take it back to stock. Or at least a 12 second tune for the ram air. I do like the ram air and I appreciate the suggestion that the gen 1 is good enough.

I’m in Northern VA just outside DC. I will definitely look forward to linking up with fellow rocketeers for rides post salty road season.

Definitely a cheap version of a megaphone exhaust and doesn’t look right on a rocket. Must sound like****. Had a nicer set on a CB350 cafe I built a few years back.
