Okay, I'm still looking for the right kind of throttle lock. I came across this on the .net site.

http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/detai ... del_ID=102

Does anyone here have experience with it? Their site doesn't give me enough of a description for me to make an actual decision. Here's what I'm hoping to learn;

- How does it work? Is it a throttle lock?
- Will it disengage if the breaks are applied?
- Over-all quality and value.

Note that I'm not used to researching stuff. I typically see something and just buy it. In this case I'm resisting the urge to do so in favor of learning more from the mighty-collective-mind of this forum.

Thanks in advance.

I've seen these but not used them. They are a ratchet style lock that you lock with your thumb and do not deactivate when the brakes are applied! However, these do, but notice they are much more expensive and require you to dismantle the throttle assembly to install!

This was not asked, and it is probably a red herring but Triumph takes the position that the throttle locks are contributing to the TPS problem. Probably BS but after the second dealer has told me that Triumph takes this position and since I now have it running smooth for the first time in a long time, I ain't taking no chances. I am leaving mine off.

Bollocks, I'm having TPS problems and so did Tom and others over here in the UK... Don't think any of us had a throttle lock, they are not in common usage over here.. :evil:

I've been running with Throttlemeister on my 06 Classic since it was new...simple and easy - all manual, but the natural reaction to twist the throttle up when you're ready to brake makes it a no-brainer (you can set the friction to be just enough to hold it in place, yet not so much that you need a tight grip to twist it off when you want to decellerate). I'd probably prefer an electronic cruise control (but I really didn't want to cut into electrical/throttle linkage, etc.) since any of these 'friction-lock' types let the bike slow down and speed up on hills. Still, Throttlemeister is a simple choice that blends unnoticeably into the R3. http://www.throttlemeister.com/ I'd never seen the Kaoko ez-cruz until I read Tatonka's post and searched it up - looks like a good alternative too. Same story for all of these types though is that they DO NOT disengage automatically on braking - only an electronically controlled device will do that.

Thanks everyone.
So far the only thing that really looks viable is the mechanical type that does disengage on application of the front break. See the link provided by NativeOne. (Thanky you NativeOne!)

I'm starting to get a little pissed though. It seems that pretty much EVERYTHING for the Rocket will cost an arm and a leg. And I'm the type of guy that pretty much refuses to spend top-dollar on anything. Okay I'll admit it... I'm a cheap SOB!

Ithink it's time to search out some deals. I REALLY like the one NativeOne posted because it
s completely mechanical and therefore i will not need to punch into the wiring.

The search continues....

I had the one from cruiser customizing. It looks horrible on the bike, and disengages onle when you use your thumb... which is scary if you forget. It was annoying to get it to hold at a certain RPM. It rusted easily, would not reccomend

I'm glad you noted this. Thank you. I was just up on eBay looking at it. It's only marginally less expensive there. Well dam!
