Breathtaking! Simply awesome views! Is the crater filled solely by snow melt?

Actually it's an ancient volcanic crater. The water is a deep incredible dark blue so clear you can see the bottom if you look closely. This shot was taken in May as the park roads had just been plowed.

No ****! Crater lake is an ancient lake Are you sure? Believe it or not all the smart people coagulate on the left coast.

From this picture, the last of your three, I surmise that the central island was a magma core. This would be similar to the Devil's Tower, without the water. Was one a volcano and was one an impact crater.
