Yes Bull I was getting payed to sit on a barge no ferries here mate. Just big landing barge's. There's a drawbridge on the mainland you drive on the back of the barge and all the Islands have a concrete ramp that the barge pulls up to and drops the front ramp down and you drive off.

Looks like some awesome country, Mate.
Someday ferries may come to OZ, I know you already have fairies.

Curious about the distinction between barge and ferry.

Yes Tdragger the boats going to Tasmania are ferries and most the rest would be barges. Other Aussies might have different opinions but that's what we call them around here. The cross river one's controlled by cables are called ferries too.
