Search continues .. knocked back on my offer on the VG here in Albany , went to Perth. Spotted a sweet 1961/2 S Model on the way back from airport on Monday. Original paintwork, minor rust and a re-built 225 slant 6. Wants $7,500 for it. Weighing that up with a real tidy VG body here in town and a rusty 1968 car up in Busselton. Good car with a healthy 318 and interior. Both need work , Catherine likes the sexy S and I want the hardtop with the V8 see how we go.
S model is a really nice car .... Catherine just loves the fins. The 1970 hardtop be a lot of work but I've got a real liking for that model. Be content (but not happy) with a well sorted 265 but a V8 is always nice. No shame in getting beaten by a GTHO Ruzzle.
I think I got about $300 for my 1970 hardtop when I sold it. I had a lot of fun in that car. My favourite old Valiant was my AP6 V8 though.
I drove an old S model for a few days back in about 1980 when somebody traded it in at the dealership I was working at. You could fit about 15 people across the front seat, and it was about 15 turns lock to lock, but it got a lot of attention even back then when it was just another old car.
