Maverick Lowrider Seat

I have just finished fitting the seat myself, an interesting task. When I first placed the seat in place I saw the gap at the font, it was noticeable, almost as if the metal piece at the front was too long stopping the seat from going forward against the tank to seal, but, on trying to refit it I slipped the metal piece lower under the tank and it slid forward more and sealed perfectly. One issue gone. I had 3 different sized bolts. I had to cut one as it was too long to replace the side cover bolt as it hit the bottom of the frame pipe before it could fully tighten, no big deal, but the longest bolt which screws into the back of the seat, OMG. What an issue. I have the larger Bridgestone Exeedra Max on the rear and lower shocks. Not much clearance at all. I had to jack up the bike and lower it a bit with some wood under the guard to open the gap to get my hand in. After ages of trying to get the bolt in I realised it was too short. When I got a longer one I finally got it to secure. Nice swelling and bruising on the inside of my wrists from the task. There is a bit of a gap at the top of the rear where the seat doesn't follow the curve or the bikes rear guard profile. I am yet to go on a ride but nice looking and low. Has neatened the look of the bike considerably. I will take some pics when the rain stops. Cheers.

Took it for a quick ride. Firm yet feels good. I think it looks good too.

UPDATE - Mike at Maverick told me to return the seat and as soon as it lands he would let me know. It landed per USPS tracking on July 1st. I have still not heard from Mike or received my refund.

I've had one on my bike since February this year & have to say I'm extremely pleased with it. I find it extremely comfortable. The quality foam used means it's considerably lower without losing any comfort . I regularly ride long trips on the bike & always need to stop for fuel & bathroom stops before I'd feel the need to rest my behind .The lower riding position gives a more involved feel & ride.
As regards not being able to ride in the rain ? As previously mentioned I live In Manchester , England & we get a lot & I mean a lot of rain ! Never had an issue of water getting under the seat into the air box, nor when washing the bike as I have to do regularly .
Granted the seat does not remove with the bike key but it takes less than one minute with an Allen key to remove.
In summary:-

Great price
Comfortable
Just my humble opinion, hope it counts.

Nope, I'll 2nd that.

I also have another question for the OP or anyone who has a Russel Day Long. Are they always taller? I thought these things were totally custom. If they can't or don't make them a little more low profile can't they at least make them the same height as stock just way more comfy?

I assumed the same thing as soon as I read it.

I have found just what I was looking for. After searching far and wide for a aftermarket seat or custom seat and contacting a half dozen or so companies including Russel Day Long (and still waiting for a refund from Maverick) I located a company right in my own back yard, not literally of course.

They took my seat, and while maintaining the height in the back and the fit to the tank in the front, they lowered the seat height, narrowed the sides, defined the seating area and added memory foam. WOW! What a difference. I just put 50 miles on it and man is it comfortable. I am easily flat footed at a stop now and can actually stand up out of the seat. Having the sides narrowed feels much better and actually makes it feel like the bike handles even better though that may be psychological. The memory foam is so much more cushy than the hard stock foam. And the definition in the seat is awesome - seriously just what I wanted. And the cost you ask - $115.00. On top of all that they are less than an hour from my home so I dropped off the seat last week and picked it up today. I am looking forward to my next long distance trip on this seat now!

There's a place about 16 miles from my house that basically does the same work to a stock seat as Mean cycles does.
