Louder Pipes is it possible

Thanks a Ton GPMAZ for posting the Tune. You have been very helpful in answering all of my questions and helping me with stuff.
I have never heard Jardine in person and Video's don't really do the justice...most of riders here say there are too loud...my question is that How loud are they in comparison to Straight Pipes on V-Twins...I observed one thing very interesting on this weekend ride. One of my friends has Straight pipes with baffles removed and they are really loud...when he was riding ahead of me, they are loud...very loud...but when he was riding behind me, I could not hear him at all...I could only hear him when he was very near or almost parallel to me...

I had the Jardines on. If the engines runs stationairy you hear a nice Rumble. When you go over 60 mph the Noise becomes harder and harder. I placed Baffles in but that was not really doing the Trick. I used Airplugs as well. When the second Passenger ...... started to complain and blackmailing me that if the Noise stayd like this, blka, bla, bla I took them off.
I placed some movies about the Jardines and tuning that time on Youtube.

While I'm sure the Jardines aren't as loud as a straight piped Harley, beyond that its pretty hard to describe an exhaust's sound. It depends on how sensitive you are to loud noise, whether or not you wear ear plugs (if you don't you WILL regret it someday), whether or not you regularly ride two up, whether or not you always have the windscreen attached, etc.

I wear custom fitted ear plugs, never ride with a passenger, and virtually always have the windscreen fitted. The pipes are significantly louder than the TORS, and the D&Ds I had before. There are times I wish I hadn't fitted them, like on a long freeway jaunt where the sound is constant and doesn't vary in pitch. When running on back roads and going through the gears I kind of like the sound, and of course the power gained is absolutely addicting.

The one thing that I have to stress is that for those seeking to somehow make a Rocket sound like a Harley, it ain't going to happen. You can make it louder, but you can't change its nature. Its a great big inline triple and it will never sound like a V-Twin.

I am not a bit fan of Harley sound if I am riding behind them...it gives me a headache...One thing I don't understand is that they will put the loudest pipes and then put Stereo...I have heard TORS in person...I like that Sports Car sound..If Jardines are like that and louder, I am sure I will love that because right not the only sound I have is the Engine sound and from the sound it feels as if I am riding a scooter...The only decent sound clip on youtube with Jardine is this one...

So, went and test rode one...this was 2010 touring...well, I was not smiling molar to molar after the ride...Here are my observations...sorry, if I offend anybody...
1. Too much engine noise...my C109 with stock exhaust never had that kind of noice and now with side burners there is none...
2. Torque is great but my C109 is also not bad with the mods I have done....
3. Back tire locked on me twice....once accidently, doing the normal braking the way I will do on my C109...and once intentionally as I practice on my C109...I know 2010 does not have ABS and probably 180 tire can't handle the weight of the motorcycle properly...I have beaten the Sh.... out of Road King, even that won't slide on the side in extreme braking...My wife was sitting behind, even with the extra load the rear wheel locked and the motorycycle skidded on the side...That really put me off...I have applied the full brakes at 60mph on C109 and never ever it has skidded on the side...I will lock in extreme braking but still the bike would go straight...Triumph should think of putting a bigger tire on Touring so that there is more contact and stopping power without locking of the wheel and to avoid the side skid...
4. Did not like the engine and exhaust sound at all...too much noice from engine and hardly any sound from stock exhaust.
5. The riding position was not comfortable at all...all the time my feet were looking for more floor boards to move my feet ahead...to use heel shifter I had to move my foot atlease 6" back...When I rode Harley Road King for 4 days in a course, there was no adjustments required...I never felt odd...
Sorry, friends but Rocket Touring in not my piece of cake...may be in future if they change the riding position with a wider tire and efficient ABS, I will consider it.
Thanks a lot to everyone for valuable input...This site is really great for Rocket III riders...
I have to say the I completely understand your initial dislike for the R3 touring since you recently come off of what appears to be a familiar bike... I ran my 98 Honda Valkyrie for 10 years when I bought my R3 Tourer. I'm still a huge fan of my Valkyrie, but I can tell you that I now prefer the R3. I can remember struggling with the floorboard at first too, but I was used to the Valkyrie's mid controls, so I was uncomfortable with the slighlty forward controles on the R3. Now I can ride for days on this thing. I can't bring myself to sell the Valkyrie, but I find that I'm not wearing it out any more!

By the way, try using more front brake. This will help keep the rear end from locking up. I t-boned an F-150 this past August when it backed out in front of me. I hit the brakes hard! and was able to slow down quite a bit before we hit. The front brakes on this bike are remarkable! I hit hard enought to move the truck, yet was able to control the bike enough to keep in on two wheels the whole time even with my wife on the back. Worst damage was a crunched fender and a cut on my hand from punching the mirror when my wife flew forward into my seat which caused my hand to slip off of the grip.

personally the r3 jars to me is a resonance problem as well as db's.. it's like being next to the lowered civic at a stop sign and the subwoofer is as large the back seat.. really gets on your nerves and under your skin.. but then im a conway twitty fan

Hi friends,
I am seriously thinking of buying a used 2010 Triumph Rocket Touring. My only concern is that I am going to go from Suzuki boulevard c109 with loud pipes to Inline three cylinders with no sound. I was just worried that I might not get enough loud pipes. If anyone can please let me know, is it possible to get louder pipes or somehow make the stock pipes louder. I have seen some video's on Youtube where Roadster have some loud pipes but they say that they are not avaiable for Touring because of the Bags support. Any input would be highly appreciated to finalize my decision.
Also, I would like your feedback regarding the Rocket III Touring...I rode it once and found it very nimble compared to my C109, it handeled much better due to 180 tyre whereas c109 has a 250 tire...

Some of my friends have complained to me that their ears ring for an hour after I pass them while under full power. I run Jardines that have had the baffles "slightly compromised". It isn't loud at all unless there is torque on the motor. Then it is really really loud.

rear end from 3 wheeler change out

BTW I have the "whole" rear end from a touring (don't know what year). It includes shocks drive train. new tire (180), brakes, etc. If anybody is interested, give me a call. 940 206 6131

I made up my own dyno sheet for my Thunderbird. I kept the template so now I can be the fastest bike on any forum. 147, eh? Well, give me a few minutes and I'll show you my Thunderbird's 197 sheet! :D
