My 2006 R3 Classic was sitting outside for about three months while I was breaking in another bike....like a fool, I left her outside...lotsa rain, could see water around the rim of the inside of the gas "cap".

Loaded her up with a full can of B12 and also sprayed starter fluid in the intake. Now will hit occasionally, sometimes with misfiring, then dies, then sometimes sounds normal and then dies. After about 15 mins of starts on and off, letting the starter cool, i got a rev to 3k out of her, then dies.

How sensitive is the bike to moisture/and/or old gas? Should I just drain the tank?

Thanks for your help in advance!

interloop,
welcome to the site.
what kind of bike did you leave your rocket outside for?
The whole problem is they're like women,
you been shinin er on for three months while you was riding another girl,
then you just expect to climb on her and ride like nothings wrong?
It don't work like that, you ain't married are you?

There was another guy around here that was leaving his bike outside and ran into a corrosion problem in the spark plug recesses. Might want to check that area out too, make sure there isn't any standing water in there breeding mosquitos.

If the gas had ethanol in it, as most gas does these days - it is almost certain that you have accumulated moisture in the tank. (Ethanol enriched gas will "break down" in as little as 30 days). I would drain the tank and try again. Also, Sta-Bil makes an additive designed for marine applications that is specifically designed to eliminate the problems associated with ethanol. I have used this product on my bikes with favorable results. Hope you get back up and running soon. And . . . as xhdskip says - they are a lot like women - you gotta ride 'em hard and often!:D
