WD-40 and some time. Just spray it on and let it set. for the nasty stuff it may take a couple applications. The longer you let it set the easier it is too clean I spray then stop for an adult beverage, Repeat as needed, WD-40 that is.:bch:
I have heard that Goo Gone is a good product. I have tried it once and it did not work for me. I had one of those clear window vent things that go over the window on the outside of my truck that got hit by a hail stone. I took it off and the stick on goo is still there. It will probably be there when they recycle the truck.

I was redoing a sail boat sometime ago and ran across a rubber distributor here that sold different thickness rubber remnants. The real rubber would last a good while and give good service. Let me know if you can't find a distributor in your area. The inner tube idea is a good one as well. Just rough up the surface so it doesn't slip if you double it. Good luck.
I use WD-40 on everything, it works great on road tar on cars trucks, and bikes. I havn't seen any damage yet but I do need new glasses. I also works great to take the black water stains off a RV. I have used it on aluminum and Fiberglass skins, I buy the crap by the case. I think it makes a better cleaner than lube. Give it a day an it evaporates.!!
peanut butter will work very well for removing tape glue, or all of those stickers that dealerships put on. just peel the stickers off and apply a thick coat of peanut butter, leave it on for a few hours, then wipe off, maybe repeat if necessary. it has always worked for me, and never hurts any finish. I always use skippy creamy, I don't think you should use crunchy. I usually use a rag to wipe it off. but you could lure a neighbors dog over to clean it up. it might actually do a good job on those hard to reach places.
