This may have been posted before. But from time to time, when I'm just starting, she jumps out of 1st and it real dodgy . . . as in almost dropping the beast!!! . . . warranty issue?

Thats the first thing I learned on my new r3 and I tell anybody I let ride it. When you put her in first from neutral, I always let the clutch out slightly while holding the shifter down. I feel it lock in gear and then I'm ready. Its only when going from neutral to first and it hasn't changed in 10k miles.

Do what BM says, when you pull the clutch and push down to 1st leave your foot on the lever and sneek the clutch and you will feel a solid drop in, no prob, mines been like that from day 1, (25000km)hope that helps.

+ 1 on what everyone has said. Happened to me until I read the posts and also asked for advise.

Some additional experience.........

Ok, I agree with all the above *except*

With 10,000 on my '06 Rock all the shifting has smoothed out a -lot-.

I'm still careful starting out in first, just a little light pressure down
at the toe. If its not in gear it slips in then.

But I almost never notice this now, and it was every other start in the
beginning.

Cheers,

Roy
