Hello,

I've searched and read myself in circles today and am coming away more confused than I started. I'm hoping the folks who know far more than me can clear a couple things up. My bike (2005) is bone stock save for the Ramair kit I installed just last night. I did the 12 minute tune and happily rode off - dreaming of more upgrades. Namely, exhaust and a tune.

Of course, I am searching for the best inexpensive options I can because I am a skinflint. I have a Tune ECU cable in hand and have been researching exhaust options.

1 - TORS & CAT Bypass + Tune

2 - Supertrapp (or similar) behind stock header + Tune

3 - Stock pipes and CAT Bypass + Tune?

I don't need that bike to be real loud, but more power is always welcome. I assume the gains will be minimal with any of these setups, but hopefully enough to notice.

My long, rambling question is this - Is my CAT box already empty? I came across a couple messages in various places that claimed the 2005 "Non-California" bikes had empty boxes in place just to attach the header and pipes without having to make all new parts. Is this true? If so, is a CAT Bypass even necessary?

Thanks!

The 2005 cat box is empty. However, a cat bypass will flow better and give you up to 10hp more. The TORS will give you about 2hp. Best option is a good set of headers and better filters - such as RamAir. All of these with a better tune with TuneECU.
