If I understood you correctly, there's a question about ridability (endurance) for passengers on the Touring, I solved the problem using the standard gel seat and put another sheepskin covered gel pad on top. I bought one for myself too...each costs about $80.00 to $100.00 but if you're going to ride any distance it makes all the difference in the world!
The combination works great for my S.O....she loves i!. First time I've been able to ride any distance 4-6-8-10 hours without getting a sore butt! She says she likes the ride...and loves the bike esp. the power when it's time to go!There's a whole thing wrapped up in the go-power the rocket that greatly affected our choice.
I've been on the road now for 16 months and leaving on my next 30,00 mile jaunt back up to the PNW in a month or so...having been around the US twice now I can tell you...for me this works and I've never been able to stand any bike for more than a hundred or two miles before I wanted off the thing. Now I just have to worry about getting top physically tired and sleepy...way better as the issue of the sore butt is not a factor.
Just as a note...On the other hand, practical reality says those seats that come on Goldwings and Harley Cruisers seem much more comfortable for pax... It's just going to come down to personal preference...money, and to me sacrificing the Rocket Ride!
