2010 Rocket Roadster with Jardines 2006 Kawasaki Concours
Thanks to all the great input in regards to my "Second" motorcycle-I ended up with the 2006 Concours with 33k miles. We will see how it turns out...my first ride on it will be this July when my sister and I tour through Nova Scotia, Cape Breton, and Newfoundland. We hope to spend three weeks riding. I bought it sight-unseen and relied on a friend in Mass. to evaluate it. When my sister went to look at the BMW the owner was not very enthused about selling the bike, and in fact had let the battery die and didnt bother to charge it up to show it to a potential buyer.

Riding the Rocket to New England from here would indeed be a great trip-and after I retire I plan to do just that-unfortunately I still have to work for a living so maximizing my time there spent with my sister (last living relative) is paramount. As some advised, I did consider renting, but when I did the math it just made more sense to buy the Concours...I paid $3k for it and I have access to free, enclosed storage. As an added bonus I no longer have to rent a car when I go back to my hometown for vacation! Thanks again guys...Best forum on the web hands down-Doug

Good choice. I rode my friend's Connie for a couple of weeks when my update kit was being installed and really liked it.

If you have the musculo-skeletal system to withstand prolonged rides on a sport-tourer (I don't) the Connie is a great choice!

Be safe and have fun!

Well, that has givin me some food for thought...so compared to my Roadster my leg and arm positions will be drastically different you reckon? -Doug

Oh yeah!!!
Oh ****e, guess I had better sign up for that yoga class my buddies been ravin about! (he comes out of there mumbling something about camels and toes) I'm 56, five foot ten inches and 220 pounds and dont bend very easily...D

I kind of made the reverse journey as you. I had a Yamaha FJR1300 sport touring bike before my Rocket. I found that after a long ride I was very sore in my knees and hips due to the more sport focused seating position (and I am tall which makes it all worse). About 3 hours was my limit before I needed a long break.

if your knees and hips are in fair shape, me thinks you will be OK.
It's more than a Roadster, but livable.

Highway pegs will fix alot of the issues. Plus most can stand up easily on the older Connies. Enjoy!
