I went with the "Connie"

Used to have a taste for Royal Lochnavar when I could get my hands on it, but you have to go to a pretty fancy place around here to get anything other than Glenlivet or similar served by the drink, and the older I get the worse the hangover gets so I just stick to Tequila or Blue Ridge Spring Water these days

I love the Connie and quite enjoy a bit of scotch myself.

When I move on from the Voyager; I may go with a Connie.

I really enjoy the Islays I've tried; Ardbeg being my favorite.
I bought a bottle of Ledaig 10 (from Mull) the other night. Nice and peaty but doesn't' have as much smoke and it doesn't seem to be as briny either. Starts sweet and gets peppery.

We've had a lot of liquor stores called "Specs" open up around here recently. If you give them your email; they will invite you to whiskey tastings. This Saturday they are featuring Aberlour. I don't think I will be able to make this one but am really looking forward to expanding my exposure.

I make sure to have a bottle of Balvenie Double Wood in my stash at all times. It's a good one.

As I said the Springbank 15 Revival (hard to acquire in Virginia) is my favorite but it is followed closely by my Abelour A'bunadh Batch #42. If our Scotland trip plans come together for this summer, a stop at Abelour is certainly on the list. MacCallan is only about a mile away, too.

I went ahead an did a couple. Don't know your inseam, so this is what it gave me.

I would love to try the "Royal Lochnager" but have not seen a bottle locally. I sometimes order from a few websites with a few other guys...we found that by ordering 6-8 bottles of whisky that the shipping becomes reasonable and we get the luxury of trying different drams-its easy to go through what the local store offer. I recommed Jim Murry's "Whisky Bible" as a good starting point for exploring new bottles. I rarely get a hangover with whisky, but I have found its best to drink it alone...If I also sip on a higher octane beer like an IPA then there could be trouble the next day.

Thanks "Random" for highlighting this website...it is really cool!! I can see that my riding stance on the "Connie" is going to be a bit more tighter and bent in comparison with my Roadster. I may seek out an aftermarket solution for stretching out my legs...maybe some highway pegs. For a real laugh I used that website to myself on a Ducati Pinagle...can you say "Pretzel!!!" -Doug

You are in Anchorage which means there are any number of BP guys that commute back and forth to the UK unless things have changed dramatically since I was there. You can buy it at the distillery outside Aberdeen (it's distiller on the Balmoral estate) or the last time I was through Heathrow you could buy it at duty free...but be prepared...the "Royal" means that it bears the queen's seal...the only brand which does I'm told...and you will pay for it.

I work across the street from BP...never really thought of that angle!! They have a cafeteria that's open to the public...maybe I should start making some friends there. There is a charter flight that starts up in the spring and is pretty reasonable...flies once a week and is a direct shot from here to Frankfurt. There are also some very good blended whiskies...take a look at "Compass Box" I really like the one called "Peat Monster" -Doug
